MAKE A BRIGHTER FUTURE - Reduce Dropout Rates, Increase Scholarship

Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you are aware, Literal - Latin American Voices Journal has proudly supported the Houston Institute for Culture's youth program, Camp Dos Cabezas, since it began six years ago. The camp program provides children from at-risk communities with the experience of a lifetime to help them achieve success in their lives. Reducing drop-out rates for youth and promoting greater interest in college and scholarship makes the future brighter for all of us.

To help the program grow to serve more children, we will have our First Annual Scholarship Dinner at 6:30pm on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at The Post Oak Grill on South Post Oak Lane (Location: 1415 S Post Oak Ln, Houston, TX 77056). I am contacting you on behalf of Houston Institute for Culture and the scholarship committee to request your support for this provident program.

During the Scholarship Dinner you will be inspired to learn more about Houston Institute for Culture's visionary public services and youth programs, such as Camp Dos Cabezas, and its many successes over the years. You will surely agree that your support will improve Houston communities in the future and have lasting impact.

Your participation in the First Annual Scholarship Dinner is a simple gesture that will make all of our futures brighter by proactively addressing the needs of marginalized youth, while interesting them in a future of education and lifelong learning. Your purchase of single ticket ($95) provides "A Day at Camp" for a Houston student. Sponsorship of a table ($900-10 tickets) provides "A Week at Camp".

If you would like to receive additional information about Camp Dos Cabezas and other Houston Institute for Culture programs, please contact Mark Lacy at 713-667-6650, or mark@houstonculture.org. He will be happy to answer your questions. You may also visit links on this page to learn more.

I thank you for your time and consideration. Houston Institute for Culture is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational and charitable organization. Contributions are tax deductible. Please be aware, your company may have a matching gifts program.

Please RSVP Online by 5pm, July 19, 2010. I look forward to visiting with you at the First Annual Scholarship Dinner.

Sincerely,

Rose Mary Salum, MLA
